Other heat loss replacement systems, such as hydronic heating systems or forced air systems, require complex design that:

  • Electric heat trace cables
    • nVent RAYCHEM RaySol heat trace cables adjust their power output to compensate for temperature variations
    • RAYCHEM MI heat trace cables are supplied as complete factory-fabricated assemblies consisting of a heating section that is joined to a non-heating cold lead and terminated with NPT-threaded connectors
  • Connection kits and accessories – items for making electrical connections and properly completing the installation, such as power connection and end seal kits and junction boxes
  • Advanced control systems – devices such as thermostats and controllers, monitor and/or control the heat trace cable to help maintain the temperature of the surface

Simple Design, Lower Cost

Alternative systems are complex in design, requiring a large amount of auxiliary equipment and extra space.  Electric floor heating systems have fewer components and the controllers can be tied back to a Building Management System (BMS) for remote monitoring.  This translates to a lower system installation and maintenance cost.

No Potential for Leaks

Hydronic heating systems rely on circulating warm fluids to heat the floor.  These systems can create liabilities especially in high rise structures where a pipe leak can cause property and structural damage. nVent Thermal Management’ systems utilize electric heat trace cables and therefore eliminate this risk.

Advanced Controls Systems

nVent Thermal Management offers a variety of different controllers and accessories to meet a wide range of design requirements.

With the RAYCHEM C910 and RAYCHEM ACCS-30 digital controllers, you can:

  • Save energy by minimizing the amount of time the system is energized
  • Program temperature setpoints on a 24/7 schedule to maximize energy savings

Additionally, RAYCHEM ACCS-30 control platform lets you:

  • Control up to 260 heating cable circuits from a single point of interface
  • Control other nVent Thermal Management heat tracing applications, such as freeze protection, hot water temperature maintenance, roof and gutter deicing, surface snow melting, and floor heating  from a single user interface
Self-Regulating Technology

nVent RAYCHEM RaySol self-regulating electric heat trace cables automatically adjust their power output to compensate for temperature changes. Heat is generated as electric current passes through the conductive polymer core between the conductors. As the temperature drops, the number of electrical paths through the core increases and more heat is produced. Conversely, as the temperature rises, the core has fewer electrical paths and less heat is produced.

RAYCHEM self-regulating heat trace cables:

Self regulating

  • Can be used for comfort floor heating or radiant space heating
  • Have a cross-linked, conductive polymer core forming a parallel circuit
  • Can be cut  to length, spliced or repaired on site
  • Are protected by a tinned-copper braid encased in a thick modified polyolefin outer jacket, making it rugged enough for all direct buried snow melting and anti-icing applications.
  • Include state-of-the-art connection kits and accessories

Mineral Insulated (MI) Technology

RAYCHEM mineral insulated electric heat trace cables are designed to provide constant power for a wide range of commercial applications.

nVent PYROTENAX mineral insulated heat trace cables:

  • Are ideal for heat loss replacement applications such a room over a garage or loading dock
  • Consist of a single or dual conductor heating element, magnesium oxide insulation, a solid metal sheath, and an extruded high density polyethylene (HDPE) jacket
  • Are supplied as complete factory-fabricated assemblies consisting of a heating section that is joined to a non-heating cold lead and terminated with NPT-threaded connectors.

Advanced Control Systems

nVent Thermal Management offers two advanced control systems for heat loss replacement systems: the RAYCHEM C910 and the RAYCHEM ACCS-30.  Both electronic controllers are specifically designed for use with both RAYCHEM RaySol self-regulating and PYROTENAX MI heat trace cables.

RAYCHEM C910:

  • Is ideal for smaller areas
  • Controls a single heating cable circuit

RAYCHEM ACCS-30:

  • Is ideal for large or buildings with multiple heat-tracing applications
  • Can control up to 260 heating cable circuits

Both controllers provide:
